Jörg Beckmann

Jörg Beckmann is Executive Director of the European Transport Safety Council (ETSC). He is 40 years of age and holds a Ph.D. in Transport Sociology as well as a Masters in Urban Planning. Jörg Beckmann joined ETSC in 2003, with a background in sustainable transport planning.    

Jörg has worked in Germany, Denmark and Belgium. Throughout his professional career he has shown a strong commitment to injury prevention and environmental protection. Jörg has worked for the European Federation for Transport & Environment, the Danish Transport Research Institute and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia.

 

Eric Howard

Following Eric Howard's appointment in 1998 as General Manager Road Safety at VicRoads, Eric Howard was instrumental in improving the safety outcomes on Victoria 's road network. He oversaw the development of Arrive Alive! The Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2002-2007, which has led to significant road toll reductions since implementation.

Eric is currently the Chair of the OECD/ECMT Joint Transport

Research Centre, Ambitious Targets Project (2005-2007) “Achieving Ambitious Road Safety Targets” which is examining recent performance across OECD/ECMT countries in meeting targets for fatality reductions and to identify means for setting ambitious but achievable road safety targets.

Since leaving VicRoads Eric has been heavily involved in reviewing road safety strategies and road safety management capacities in many overseas countries.

Most recently Eric has been appointed by the Minister for Police

And Emergency Services in Western Australia (WA) to chair an all-party Reference Committee of WA Parliamentarians which will meet over the next 12 months to consider and review the development of Western Australia's next road safety strategy.
